	  <title>GOURDON</title>
	  <link>http://www.acte-immobilier.com/content/12/gourdon.html</link>
	  <description>
	Getting to Gourdon is an adventure in itself. Take the road through the vertiginous Gorges du Loup, with 700 m high cliffs towering above you, and take the time to stop at the Saut du Loup waterfall for a refreshing breather in the summer. Then you ll passing through the hamlet of Pont du Loup, with its climate ideal for growing orange trees, olive trees and perfume plants, which is part of the Gourdon municipality.From there you might choose to walk up to Gourdon, taking the old "Chemin du Paradis" which used to be a mule track. Beware, it s a climb of more than 500 metres, but at the end of the road is paradise! Alternatively the less energetic visitor may prefer to stay in their car and simply drive up to one of the most beautiful villages in the whole of France which certainly also attracts more visitors than most villages on the Riviera.Gourdon is the archetype of a perched village, sitting like an eagle s nest at the end of a rocky spur, enjoying a truly exceptional panoramic view over more than 80 kilometres of coastline from Théoule sur Mer to Nice. It also forms a remarkably harmonious ensemble of white stone-built medieval houses, nestling around the feudal castle, all of which are beautifully restored and maintained. Without a doubt, Gourdon has been the fortunate recipient of attentions from all the good fairies of Creation!The good fairies of commerce have been at work too, to judge by the number of craft shops that await the tourists: perfumes and soaps, honey, nougat, gingerbread, craft glassware and painting on silk, etc.But the highlight of your visit to Gourdon will be thecastle. Originally owned by the Counts of Provence until the 13th century, the castle was then passed on to the Grasse-Bar, the Villeneuve-Flayosc and the Borriglione families in succession, almost all of whom where great noble families. Traces of each are still to be seen in this wonderfully preserved building.You ll admire its imposing round and square towers, its arrow slits and Renaissance entrance gate, its cobbled inner courtyard and well, its gargoyles and vaulted hallways, not forgetting its monumental 14th century fireplace. Inside, you can visit two museums and superb gardens laid out by Le Nôtre, Versailles landscape gardener. The historical museum displays weapons and armour 16th and 17th century paintings, a sculpture by Greco and a Marie-Antoinette secretaire while the museum of decorative art will be of great interest to admirers of Art Nouveau and Art Deco. Finally, the gardens are a true Eden, with their main terraces shaded by centuries old limetrees. You will admire an Italian style garden and rock garden, as well as the apothecary s garden with its intermingling fragrances of angelicas, columbine, balsam and comfrey, lemon balm, old mints and roses, sage and tansy medicinal plants used in the Middle Ages.After this wonderful journey into the Past, you ll enjoy a return to reality, having lunch on the terrace with a breath-taking view of the entire Riviera. Then you ll understand why Gourdon is one of the villages that attracts the most visitors on the whole of the Riviera!

	  <description>
	While in Le Rouret, you will discover the magic of the best French perfumes, because the plants grown here are destined for the distilleries of Grasse, including jasmin, roses, orange trees, violets...Le Rouret is a classic example of a typical Provencal village undergoing modern development : without ignoring its agricultural past, Le Rouret is slowly turning towards tourism by developing its cultural activities.

	  <title>MOUGINS</title>
	  <link>http://www.acte-immobilier.com/content/14/mougins.html</link>
	  <description>
	Mougins is without doubt one of the most wonderful places to visit on the Côte d Azur. Only 15 minutes from Cannes, this superb medieval village is set amongst pines, olives and cyprus trees.Surrounded by forests (the Valmasque forest covers 427 hectares) Mougins has kept the quality of its environment intact, and offers visitors, from the height of 260 metres, a panoramic view of the "baie de Cannes", the Lérins islands, Grasse and the "Préalpes".As soon as you arrive in the village, you will be seduced by the charm of the narrow roads, bordered by colourful flowers and superb ancient houses. Picturesque door-ways with each stone carefully restored, beautifully designed window-frames... there s a delightful detail everywhere you look!With the imprint of the past subtly conserved, the harmony of the colours and quality of light has seduced many artists and celebrities who have chosen to stay in Mougins, including Picasso (who spent the last 15 years of his life here), Cocteau, Fernand Léger, Paul Eluard, Man Ray, Winston Churchill, Christian Dior, Catherine Deneuve, Edith Piaf, Jacques Brel...amongst others. Mougins has always had close links with the art and cultural world.On the village outskirts, luxurious properties are hidden behind magnificent Mediterranean parks and gardens. It is not just by chance that Mougins today continues to be one of the "must-sees" on the Cote d Azur. While you are near the coast and all its cultural events, at the same time you can take advantage of the quieter life found inland - although Mougins has two golf-courses, more than 40 restaurants, (including the famous Moulin de Mougins belonging to Roger Vergé), 20 art galleries and studios, not to mention its enchanting.

	  <title>OPIO</title>
	  <link>http://www.acte-immobilier.com/content/15/opio.html</link>
	  <description>
	A "protected" site, in the middle of a marvellous Mediterranean environment - olive trees, pines, cork oaks, arbutus trees, heather - stands the miniscule perched village of Opio.Thanks to an exceptional micro-climate, roses and jasmine are cultivated here for the Grasse perfume industry, while the Grande Bastide olive grove, one of the largest in the "département", produces a delicious olive oil that you can buy at the Opio olive oil mill, one of the few such mills still operating in the region. It dates back to the 15th century.With a name derived from oppidum (fortified town in Latin), Opio has a long history. It was a seigneury of the bishop of Grasse until the Revolution. The village also has several remains from the Roman period, including a beautiful marble sculpture of a woman s head, currently on exhibition at the Grasse museum.Those who choose to spend their holidays here won t be disappointed by this peaceful setting, perfect for long walks or horse-riding in the midst of 450 hectares of forest. Golfers can combine business with pleasure: the Bégude golf course premises are located in a former château dating back to the 19th century, built on medieval foundations.

	  <title>ROQUEFORT LES PINS</title>
	  <link>http://www.acte-immobilier.com/content/16/roquefort-les-pins.html</link>
	  <description>
	Roquefort Les pins was originally a "castrum", then became a "seigneury", and was classified as a municipality in 1790. However Roquefort-les-Pins has never been a village. It consists of a series of hamlets made up of recently built homes, located in an area near Grasse, and concealed in the midst of a pine forest.Notre Dame is the oldest part, Le Plan is the commercial and administrative centre, Le Colombier is the residential district and Les Terres Blanches is a more rural area.In other words, at Roquefort-les-pins, there is something for everybody: schools, shops, sports centres and tennis courts, nurseries, and retirement homes, an antique dealer, vet, garden centre and osteopath, etc. Its major attraction is simply fantastic quality of life in a Mediterranean natural environment, benefitting from every possible modern amenity and service. Roquefort-les-Pins is a place where life is good, in the shade of its majestic pines !
